It's officially Fall in Upstate, NY. The leaves have started their transition to golden hues, the mornings are crisp and cool, and the skies are turning from blue to shades of grey. It was the perfect time to shoot our Fall campaign, something I've looked forward to all summer.
To me, autumn is the peak representation of life in the Northeast, and the perfect time to re-introduce Fall Brook Farms, which serves as Good Psyche's headquarters, and share more about the underlying lifestyle that influences the brand.
My urban exodus out of the city of Austin and my move home to the Finger Lakes region of Upstate NY was a signifier of my shifting priorities, both personally, and as a founder. This homestead is where the very first ideas for GP bloomed, and our very first, albeit low-fidelity prototypes were made up right here in the agricultural kitchen in the stables.
Some of you have asked about the connection between Fall Brook Farms and Good Psyche, so I thought I'd take this opportunity to share more about the ecosystem of this very special place.
Fall Brook Farms is a regenerative medicinal herb farm located in a small rural town in Upstate New York. It is owned and operated by my mother, Shannon, an herbalist and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) practitioner by trade.
She runs a thriving acupuncture clinic on the property, where patients come to see her for a vast array of maladies. Her approach enlists the full spectrum of TCM, from needles to cupping to herbal remedies.
Shannon, her knowledge, and the beauty of this farm were the impetus and inspiration behind Good Psyche, which as most of you know, uses medicinal plants and herbs to enhance inner and outer beauty.
Also located on the farm is a bite-sized building, once used as a fruit stand to sell produce, that is now called The Littlest Apothecary. The apothecary hosts a whole slew of products, both local and non-local, including Shannon's own herbal tinctures made with ingredients from her herb gardens, and Good Psyche wellbeauty products.
There's a lot going on at all times, and I'm definitely busier up here than I was in Austin, but the work is more meaningful to me. As a founder, my time is spent more intentionally. Instead of being pulled in one million directions with the constant distractions of a city growing too quickly, I feel focused, calm, and purposeful.
I hope you see that resonating in the visual identity of GP. We do not chase trends, memes, or gimmicks. We are grounded and deliberate, fully aware of the role GP plays in your daily routine.
This lifestyle demands integrity and putting other people, plants, and animals before yourself. The barn needs sweeping, the plants need watering, the sheep need feeding, the horses need...well, everything.
I hope you enjoy the start of our GP Fall - lots more to come.
