Glisten Up! FAQ

Glisten Up! FAQ

Hello curious human,

We want to let you in on what makes our Glisten Up! mist for face and body so special. We created a unique, custom formula to quench your skin's deepest desires. Let's cover your most frequently asked questions:

Is it safe for sensitive skin?

Yes! Glisten Up! is made with nourishing vitamins and soothing botanicals safe for sensitive skin. Vitamin D calms inflammation, vitamin E protects against cell damage, and ceramides improve your skin’s barrier function.

Why is Tremella called the beauty mushroom?

We must start with our star performer, Tremella fuciformis. Tremella, a white, gelatinous mushroom also known as Snow Fungus, has been revered for millennia for being the beauty mushroom of choice dating back to ancient China. Studies have demonstrated that the polysaccharides found in Tremella have strong healing, nourishing, and moisturizing effects on skin. It's also a potent antioxidant which helps to fend off free radicals. A 2021 study found that Tremella fuciformus polysaccharides have protective effects of UVA-induced oxidative stress on dermal fibroblast cells. Another reason to use Glisten Up! as a cooling, soothing, after-sun spritz.

When do you suggest I use Glisten Up! throughout the day?

Keep it in your gym bag for a refreshing spritz after a workout, in your car for a calming dose of hydration, by your bedside for nighttime skincare, add it to your makeup routine as a setting spray, or keep it in your fridge for a cooling mist experience.

I've never heard of Amla and Schisandra, what are those?

Amla (Phyllanthus emblica L) also called Indian Gooseberry, is another potent antioxidant and rich source of Vitamin C capable of protecting your skin from oxidative stress and improving skin elasticity by promoting collagen production. Because it's so rich in Vitamin C, it can help brighten your skin. Amla also helps to improve the thickness of your skin to create a more plump, youthful looking complexion.

Schisandra Chinensis, a perennial vine that grows dense clusters of bright red berries native to Northern China, Russia, and parts of Korea, found its way into both of our products - Sidekick and Glisten Up! (Check out our inner + outer beauty bundle).

When it comes to skin care, Schisandra is renowned for its potent antioxidant properties, which help combat free radicals and protect your skin from oxidative stress. It promotes a healthy, balanced complexion, reduces inflammation, and supports the natural regenerative processes of your skin cell turnover.

Anti-Aging Effects: Schisandra contains lignans, which have been shown to possess anti-aging properties. And if you use it daily as we suggest with Glisten Up, Schisandra can reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, enhance skin elasticity, and help you look more youthful with plump, glowing skin.

If you struggle with acne, rosacea, or any other dermal inflammatory response, Schisandra can be used as a treatment because of its astrigent (oil reducing), anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties make it an effective natural remedy for acne-prone skin. In that, it also reduces redness, the occurrence, severity and frequency of breakouts, while also supporting the healing process of existing blemishes.

What are ceramides?

Ceramides are made up of skin-identical lipids that serve as a key structural role in your stratum corneum. They restore and repair your skin's protective barrier function, helping to prevent transepidermal water loss and keep skin hydrated and supple.

I take vitamins, but I didn't know I should put them on my skin too.

Vitamins D and E work beautifully together as an anti-inflammatory super duo in Glisten Up! face and body mist. Most of us are lacking Vitamin D, a deficiency of which is associated with an increased risk of psoriasis and atopic dermatitis.

Vitamin D is essential for regulating many physiological processes in the skin ranging from cellular proliferation, differentiation, and apoptosis to barrier maintenance and immune functions. Vitamin E may help with inflammation-based skin issues like excess dryness, psoriasis, and eczema.

We recommend misting Glisten Up! on your face, neck, and décolletage once or twice daily.
